In addition to our PSHE scheme of work, we plan an enhanced calendar of activities and events that broaden our pupils' knowledge and understanding.

    Children's Mental Health Week

Week beginning 9th February was Children's Mental Health Week, promoted by the charity Place2Be.  The theme was 'This is my Place' and we undertook a week of activities which made us think about the importance of 'belonging'.  We started with an assembly where we began to think about what it means to belong and how we can help others to feel like they do.  We then all made our own mosaic tiles with pictures of ourselves in situations where we feel like we belong and quotes about when and how we feel that way.  These will be joined together to make a whole-school display mosaic at school.

We also made our own personal maps entitled 'This is my Place' where we connected our places of belonging and which we bound together to form class atlases. We finished the week off by coming to school wearing clothes that help us feel like we belong, such as club uniforms, sports kits or just things that make us feel comfortable.  We all brought a donation in for this which will be sent to the Place2Be charity.

Our new library display boards show our school values with books linking to each of them. The children have written comments and reviews about the books, and what the values mean.

    World Mental Health Day

On Friday 10th October, we joined the campaign to fight for mental health today and inspire a brighter tomorrow by dressing in Yellow. Each class took time out of their usual routine to focus on wellbeing as well as being outside in the fresh air, and cleaning our school environment.

Over a series of assemblies, the children thought about different 'Ways to Wellbeing' and the activities they can do that support their own wellbeing.
