Woodpecker Class at the end of 2025

The second half of the Autumn term has been the usual whirlwind of fun. Woodpecker class has been full of creativity and achievement!

We completed our assessments and then explored character description through T. S. Eliot’s poem Macavity the Mystery Cat, which sparked some fantastic writing. We combined RE, Art, English, and Computing to create impressive Stop Frame animations retelling the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000.

In Maths, we focused on solving word problems and enjoyed the festive “Decembar” activities to sharpen our skills. A highlight of the term was when Key Stage 2 came together for an outstanding Christmas Carol Concert. We proudly performed Carol of the Bells and Peacechild, and we loved seeing families join in with the carols, especially during the lively rendition of The Twelve Days of Christmas. December also saw our first strings concert, and some pianists joined us, Rockin' Robin was enjoyed by all.

Our History lessons transported us back to Tudor and Victorian times, where we discovered what life was like for children. We were fascinated by the gory details of diseases and the harsh realities faced by apprentices.

We have honed our painting skills, developing the use of mixing and used these techniques to paint Christmas cards and paintings to decorate the church.

It’s been a busy and exciting term, with Secret Santa gifts, trips to the Pantomime, Christmas jumper day and performances galore and we can’t wait for more learning adventures ahead in 2026!
