Welcome
Welcome to our school
We would like to welcome you to Chewton Mendip Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School.
Opened in 1861, our school is located in the centre of Chewton Mendip conservation area in large attractive grounds. Our school is next to the beautiful St Mary Magdalene Church and overlooks the Mendip countryside.
We are a small village primary school with four mixed age classes, with around 120 pupils on roll aged 4-11 years old. We are able to offer a range of sports and recreational facilities including a heated outdoor swimming pool, a grass area with a range of equipment, two playgrounds and a sports field. We also have a small outdoor provision for our infant children to learn in.
Our vision is based on the Church of England’s vision for education that all children will live “life in all its fullness” (John 10:10) and the Bible verse:
“The seed fell into good ground and grew up increasing and yielding thirty, sixty and a hundred times as much” Mark 4:8
We strive to be the ‘good ground’ where our children can grow in knowledge and skills. Our ambition is that all children will thrive and contribute to their communities and live well, growing together.
At Chewton Mendip Primary School our curriculum is designed to ensure children are motivated to want to learn more and their curiosity is sparked. Children are able to engage in learning that extends beyond the classroom environment and links curriculum areas together.
We warmly welcome visits to our school. Appointments can be made by contacting our main school office.
