Fox Class is a class of Year 6 children. The majority of teaching is delivered by Miss Painter, apart from French which is taught by Mr Newland (in every class in KS2). Teaching is supported by Miss Coombs.
In Year 6 we have the responsibilities of being Star people who help set up assemblies and make sure the younger children are safe around school. We also have Fob people who hold open the doors for the juniors when they come down from assemblies, breaks and lunch. We hand out the infant dinner stickers and at the beginning of the year help out the new reception children at lunchtime.
In Fox class we specialise in Mathematics, SPaG (Spelling,Punctuation and Grammar), English and Reading ready for our SATs tests and for later life. We also do lots of other subjects including exciting science experiments making rockets and looking at evolution. We are keen artists who have enjoyed colour mixing, creating wrapping paper and sewing Christmas decorations.
To help us with our reading we have received lots of postcards from authors via our twitter account @chewtonfox. We have a book pen pal who sends us monthly postcards with recommended reads. We also send and receive letters to local nursing homes, it’s fascinating to hear their stories and about their lives.
This year we are taking part in a Lego Robotics competition which involves programming the robots and giving a presentation.
We enjoy going on lots of school trips and every year Fox Class gets to visit the Create Centre in Bristol to learn life skills; We the Curious and the Wells Literature festival. Every 2 years we visit Kilve Court outdoor centre for a 3 day residential.
At the end of the year we have our final leavers’ assembly ready to go off to Secondary School.
